Inter Vidyalaya Maths Olympiad (IVMO) 2024

Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education (Autonomous), Coimbatore, organized the Inter Vidyalaya Maths Olympiad (IVMO) on 24th December 2024 to ignite the young minds to celebrate the spirit of Mathematics. This special event was conducted to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the College of Education and the National Mathematics Day honouring the 137th birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan, India’s greatest mathematician.

The Maths Olympiad witnessed enthusiastic participation from 300 students studying in VIII Standard of the Vidyalaya schools between 02.00 p.m. and 04.00 p.m. on 24th December 2024. The students faced challenging mathematical problems designed to assess their problem-solving skills, logical reasoning and analytical abilities.

After evaluating the responses, the Award Ceremony for the Maths Olympiad was arranged on 26th December 2024, at 9:30 a.m. Dr. N. Muthaiah, Dean, School of Rehabilitation and Sports Science, FDMSE, RKMVERI, Coimbatore, delivered Special Address highlighting the contributions of Srinivasa Ramanujan, and the importance of Mathematics in every walks of life. Dr. R. Sridhar, Director of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science (Self-Finance Wing), delivered the Keynote Address, engaging students with interactive puzzles and stimulating their curiosity for Mathematics. Swami Garishthananda Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore, gave away the prizes and cash awards to students who demonstrated exceptional performance in the competition.
Following the award ceremony, Sri V. Eswaran, Assistant Professor in Mathematics and Programme Coordinator, provided valuable insights into problem-solving techniques and helped students understand effective strategies for tackling mathematical challenges. The event not only honoured the legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan but also paved the way for nurturing future mathematicians.
