In Commemoration of 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Historic Speech at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Maruthi College of Physical Education and Tamilnadu Power lifting Association jointly organized Tamilnadu State 1st Inter Collegiate Power lifting Championship for Men 2018 on 16th December 2018 (Sunday) at Maruthi College of Physical Education. In the inaugural function, Sri S.Nagarajan, General Secretary, Tamilnadu Power lifting Association delivered the welcome address, Sri K. Kalimuthu, Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer, Western Railways, Mumbai delivered the presidential address, Swami Alokeshananda, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya was the Chief Guest of the function. Dr. Ch. VST. Saikumar, Principal & Secretary Maruthi College of Physical Education was the special guest.
Competitions were conducted in the following weight categories 53Kg, 59 Kg, 66 Kg, 74 Kg, 83 Kg, 93 Kg,105 Kg, 120 Kg, and 120+ Kg. Totally 122 power lifters participated from 32 colleges.
In the valedictory function Dr. Ch.VST. Saikumar, Principal & Secretary, Maruthi College of Physical Education delivered the welcome address, Sri K. Kalimuthu, Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer, Western Railways, Mumbai presided over the function and distributed the medals and trophies to the winners. Sri S.Nagarajan, General Secretary, Tamilnadu Power lifting Association proposed to vote of thanks.
